Sadly, a broken Panzer Assault badge for '75' engagements, this came from a local veteran who delighted in telling me the story of how this was taken from a POW and stamped on in front of the man, once the POW was taken away the veteran said he kept it, and 'repaired' it - the badge has been lightly glued together, it holds the badge together nicely but would not take too much effort to free off and clean up. The badge is a JFS marked badge. Not much else to say really, have a look at the pictures. A shame for such a wonderful badge.

A stunning and very sought after WW2 German Army Paratroopers badge die test striking in excellent condition. The striking is the badge centre piece for the badge, the now famous diving eagle. This is a very scarce item that rarely comes on to the market. Generally such test strikes were thrown into the scrap bins as in the day they were nothing more than the badge makers tool tests. Blanks would be placed in the die and then heated, depending on how much metal was to be 'moved', the strike pressure would be calculated and set up, then the strike would 'strike' the blank and if everything was set as correct then the image of the desired design will be left in the metal. This test strike is both crisp and perfect as a strike. This is a little something for that descerning collector, ideally kept as it is though I have seen them made up into wartime sweetheart brooches too.
